Sponsoring Employers
Benefits for Employers
The YCG Pathways Programme™ offers a fully managed training, recruitment and employment service for socially responsible, corporate employers. This enables forward planning and upskilling of workforces whilst contributing to the wider community.
All sponsoring employers share our belief in the capacity of YCG Citizens™, working with us to realise their potential. This enables them to improve their lives, gain economic stability and reduce their risk of re-offending following release from custody.
Our Employer Charter
All sponsoring employers sign up to our YCG Employer Charter when joining the Pathways Programme. This consists of a shared set of values which are agreed between both parties and participating establishments prior to securing their future recruitment needs.
Frequently Asked Questions
A list of the most frequently asked questions by prospective employers.
What kind of skill sets do prisoners have?
Prisoners come from all walks of life and can perform a wide range of managerial, administrative and vocational roles. Many have the aptitude for growing into roles but have never had the opportunities to grow to their potential.
How do I know candidates have or will have relevant skills?
Our sister company, YCG Academy Limited, provides academic and vocational skills training to candidates which is tailored to the needs of our sponsoring employers. All sponsoring employers can provide specific training to candidates via our YCG Academy digital online platform and through vocational training both within participating establishments and at their place of work.
Can I be sure my investment in candidates will be economically viable?
Yes. Unlike traditional recruitment, candidates have a wider interest in the stability of their employment.
Do I have any say in the candidate selection process?
Yes, you can stipulate which categories of prison leavers will or will not be selected. Participants will secure a guaranteed offer of employment on release by you, so you will want to be entirely confident about who you will be employing. All candidates have been vetted for suitability by our justice partners.
Will I need to have special security arrangements in place to allow prisoners to work at my premises?
No, all YCG Citizens™ have demonstrated a commitment to their future reintegration and have been vetted for suitability by our justice partners. They should be treated in the same way as your existing workforce.
Can serving prisoners meet my shift patterns?
Yes. They should be treated in the same way as your existing workforce. We will organise this for you.
How does transport work?
This can be provided by you or by the participating establishment by agreement. We will organise this for you.
What happens if there is a problem?
This is dealt with via our helpline number.
Can all prisoners be released on day release?
No. There are strict eligibility criteria in place. For those who cannot be released on temporary licence we can facilitate their participation in the participating establishment.
How does this all work?
We provide a managed services contract to ensure that everything runs smoothly with the participating establishment.
